This is a 1 credit undergraduate course (or a 2 credit graduate course) that is about ethics, culture, and the development of music therapy around the world. The undergraduate course will have online readings, lots of discussion, and attendance/participation during events abroad; it is a hands-on course. Additionally, the graduate course includes extended readings and discussions about various components of culture that can impact treatment. Both courses include a 13-day trip to Austria! Students will stay in Vienna and participate in the European Music Therapy conference, meet music therapists from other countries, and view the historical music sites in Vienna and Salzburg. The trip includes hotel, breakfasts, a day tour to Salzburg, a Vienna City tour & Schonbrunn Palace tour, a Belvedere Palace Combination ticket tour, and a day trip to Salzburg. Students who would like to use educational loans to pay for this program are encouraged to apply for this funding with their Spring financial aid, as this program does not meet the full-time criteria for borrowing during the summer.
